Lakeville trustees approve $3.99 reimbursement, back staff-appreciation closure; review donations policy, programs and building repairs

Lakeville — The Town of Lakeville Library Board of Trustees on July 23 approved a small reimbursement, voted to support a townwide staff-appreciation closure in August, and spent much of the meeting reviewing library programs, facilities maintenance and a proposed revision to the donations policy.

The board voted to reimburse a staff member $3.99 for a portable air-conditioner and recorded unanimous support for the town’s staff-appreciation plan, which will close town buildings at noon on Thursday, Aug. 28. Trustees also accepted the secretary’s report and adjourned at 9:52 a.m.

Why it matters: The votes were procedural but set funding and operational expectations for the coming month. The broader discussion addressed whether donated materials and memorials are managed consistently, how to allocate space and modest capital dollars for building repairs, and how the library should expand programs such as a possible “library of things” and a seed-lending collection.
