The Village of Ashwaubenon Park and Recreation Board discussed an estimate to replace brick pavers with concrete on sections of the Marina Trail and accepted the item as information for capital planning.
Rex (parks staff) reported Martell Construction provided an estimate broken into two sections so officials could consider staging the work across fiscal years. The figures discussed were roughly $41,000 for one section and $35,850 for the other, for a combined total just over $77,000; Rex described the bid as more favorable than expected. Staff added the estimate to the department’s capital improvement plan to be considered by the joint finance committee and the Village Board.
Board members asked whether the pavers could be salvaged and reused if removed; staff cautioned removal would be labor intensive and probably increase project costs. Discussion also covered whether a single-year bid would produce lower pricing and whether other municipalities might share costs for portions of the trail; staff said the Marina Trail work is fully under village control and therefore a simpler candidate for a capital project than multi-jurisdictional trail segments.
No vote was taken. Staff said formal bidding would occur if the project is authorized in a future budget year.
