At a special meeting of the Heath Planning and Zoning Commission the panel elected James John as chair and Wayne as vice chair for the 2025–26 calendar year, voting unanimously on both positions (5–0).
The vote followed a motion to elect James John under Resolution No. 250722b. Commissioners moved to vote on the chair first and then the vice chair; the commission recorded an overall tally of five votes in favor and zero opposed on the chair and on the vice chair nomination.
Commission members clarified that the commission must also name a secretary but that item was not on the published agenda. City staff said the secretary position will be added to the next meeting agenda so the commission can consider it formally. Staff noted the city secretary role remains distinct from the commission’s officer position and that the city secretary performs official minute-keeping under state law.
No other formal actions were taken during the portion of the meeting devoted to officer elections. There were no public comments recorded for this special meeting.
The commission moved on after completing the officer elections and scheduling the secretary nomination for a future meeting.
