Littleton planning commission recommends code changes to streamline platting and public notice

The Littleton Planning Commission voted 7-0 on July 28 to recommend that the City Council approve code text amendments to Title 10 of the Unified Land Use Code aimed at streamlining platting and public-notice procedures.

Staff said the changes would reduce redundant reviews and provide flexibility in who arranges required mailed notices while preserving staff oversight. Andrea Vaughn, senior planner in community development, told the commission the amendments focus on three platting items and the notice-by-mail provisions.

Vaughn said staff proposes removing condominium plats from the city's review and allowing those plats to be processed with the county because condo plats typically divide building ownership rather than subdividing land. "Condo plats really only subdivide the building, not the land," Vaughn said. She added that the city would continue to review any new development or redevelopment impacts to buildings.
