Public service committee ratifies utility contracts, approves gas main replacement and authorizes transmission‑line change order

The Terrebonne Parish Public Service Committee approved several utility‑related actions, including a change order on the 115 kilovolt transmission line improvements project, the ratification of an engineering appointment for gas main replacement in the South Down Subdivision and progress updates on ongoing gas projects.

A resolution authorizing change order No. 1 to the contractor agreement for the 115 kV transmission line improvements (Phase 2, project 22‑ELT‑24) passed on a recorded vote, 9–0. The committee also ratified the appointment of David A. Waits Engineering & Surveying Inc. to provide professional engineering services for South Down Subdivision gas line improvements (Phase 1), project 25‑GAS‑22; that resolution likewise passed 9–0.

Ernest Brown, utilities director, briefed the committee on project status. He said the Highway 311 and Shade Drive project is nearly complete and working through punch‑list items, and that the South Down project was identified after consultants found low gas pressure in the area. Brown said the parish expects to complete two additional small gas projects in 2026 and that upgrades to two booster stations remain on the schedule and are expected to be finished by year‑end.

Why it matters: The actions advance work to improve transmission and gas distribution infrastructure and address low‑pressure issues reported by residents. Committee members thanked utilities staff and noted visible improvements in affected neighborhoods.
