Council approves expansion of Council on Aging voucher program to 100 units

Kelly Varnado, director of housing and human services, told the committee the council on aging funds the vouchers and pays the parish an administration fee; with the amendment, 100 vouchers will be issued to low‑income elderly people in Terrebonne Parish. Varnado said the program is ready to start “shortly after this is taken care of,” once the parish president signs the amendment.
The resolution was moved by Councilmember John Amadee and seconded by Councilmember Carl Harding; the committee recorded a 9–0 vote in favor.
