Commissioners voted to form a small subcommittee to study how to improve outreach and artist engagement.
Rachel told the commission the library has four teen-painted murals in study rooms depicting regions of Texas — Panhandle Plains, Big Bend, Gulf Coast and another region — and that the library will hold a ribbon-cutting for the works at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 12. She said the library has seen notable usage increases this summer, reporting a 52.2% increase in program attendance in June (from about 2,400 to about 3,600 attendees year-over-year), an 11% rise in physical checkouts and a 41% jump in e-checkouts.
