Forsyth County commissioners unanimously approved zoning docket F‑1660 on July 24, a site plan amendment for a proposed 94‑lot single‑family planned residential development on 24.6 acres east of South Main Street and north of Jones Road.
Kirk Erickson, deputy director of planning and zoning, told the commission the project is in RM8S zoning and consistent with the Legacy comprehensive plan and the South Suburban area plan, which supports single‑family development at 0–8 units per acre. The site plan retains a stormwater pond in the northeast portion of the parcel and otherwise mirrors a layout the board had approved in September, but it eliminates a second street connection to South Main Street at the request of the North Carolina Department of Transportation. Erickson said DOT concluded the previously approved connection would be too close to the Fischel/Jones/Main intersection for safety reasons.
A motion to approve the site plan amendment, special‑use permit and related consistency findings passed unanimously.
