Board approves yearlong Finalsite contract to replace Blackboard as district website platform

Superintendent Dr. Garrison told the board that Blackboard currently powers the district’s websites — “we currently have over 3,500 web pages in general that that Blackboard kinda operates for us” — and that Finalsite will become the primary platform for district pages, communications, mass notifications and the district mobile app. “It is our primary web pages opportunity here in the school district where everything is pretty much stored,” Dr. Garrison said, and he explained that the platform integrates with the Skyward student information system and is used for inclement‑weather messaging, emails, texts and voice communications.
Board members confirmed the contract is for one year. A board member asked for a housekeeping item to change a contact on the vendor list so invoices are routed to someone other than Monica Cristapa. On the motion to approve the purchase and contract, a board member moved and another seconded; the motion passed by voice vote. Meeting minutes recorded: “Motion carried.”
The administration provided the invoice the board had requested at the prior meeting and described Finalsite as the district’s primary mass‑communication and web‑content system. The contract approval will allow the district to proceed with the platform transition; no fiscal totals for the contract were read into the record during the discussion on the floor that evening.
