Board receives administrative updates: Aspen Daily News column, county health rankings, training and parking

Aspen Daily News column Staff reported an agreement with the Aspen Daily News for a quarterly column. Presenters said the paper requested a single primary author for each column and will accept contributors; early topics scheduled include tobacco, substance use and respiratory disease.

County Health Rankings and report Staff summarized the annual County Health Rankings, noting recent methodological changes that present results on a continuum rather than a strict annual rank. Pitkin County remains among the healthier Colorado counties in the current release, staff said, and the county snapshot is available to examine health outcomes and health factors such as clinical care and social determinants.

Board training and required modules Staff reviewed optional statewide board‑of‑health trainings (dates in May and June) and a required online training series hosted on the state learning platform. Board members were instructed to create accounts on the specified state training platform and complete the required modules by year‑end; staff offered help for anyone needing account setup support.

Logistics and next meeting County staff said board members may park at Aspen municipal lots while attending meetings and can request a waiver of parking tickets if needed. The board’s next meeting was set for July 11.
