On a roll‑call vote, the board approved agenda items 5.1 through 5.12, a package that included the agenda, minutes, student handbooks for elementary, middle and high schools, athletics handbook and admission prices, meal prices, a family navigator independent contract, Title I schoolwide plans for elementary schools, and authorization to execute documents related to the sale of the Franklin Township Elementary sewage treatment plant. The motion passed with board members Ryan, Tim, Al, Alice, Kathleen and President Hassinger voting yes.
The board then considered HR recommendations (item 5.13). The motion to approve the HR report passed; Kathleen, Alice, Al, Tim and Ryan voted yes and President Hassinger abstained because a family member was listed in the report, as noted on the record. The board publicly welcomed Doctor Kathy Schiefer as a newly approved elementary school principal following that vote.
The board also approved policy 6.20, the district's capitalization of assets policy, on a roll‑call vote. The motion passed with Al, Alice, Tim, Ryan, Kathleen and President Hassinger voting yes.
An informational item (no board action) reported that the high school food‑service cooler and freezer need replacement: maintenance staff said the equipment is about 25 years old and replacement is recommended.
The meeting included facility updates for district projects: Lincoln Elementary is on track with equipment startup and testing the week of Aug. 4–11, furniture move‑in scheduled Aug. 7–8, borough testing and a certificate of occupancy expected Aug. 13 and staff occupancy on Aug. 14. Franklin window replacement is about 95% complete, with caulking and painting to be substantially finished by Aug. 4. The Warriors Stadium scoreboard installation is physically complete; start‑up testing and training were scheduled for Aug. 15 and the scoreboard was expected to be operational by the first game. A pre‑bid meeting for the Warriors stadium team room was scheduled Aug. 5 with bids due Aug. 26.
The board also heard a brief legislative committee report about a temporary pause in federal Title I funding activity noted by the board's legislative liaison; the comment reflected a staff member's view on federal review and potential redirection of funds to state departments of education. Program reports included new‑teacher induction and reminders that staff opening day is Aug. 14 and student opening day is Aug. 20.
