The Brainerd Public School District Board of Education voted to approve an addendum to its nonunion compensation and benefits handbook that reclassifies a specific nonunion hourly position to a salaried role.
Director Olsen introduced the amendment and said the change follows an analysis of the position's duties recommending conversion from hourly to salary. "I've got before you tonight just a amendment to the, nonunion, handbook for, some of our staff and 1 position in particular to move it from hourly position to a salary position based on our analysis of the duties," Olsen said.
After a motion and a second, board members asked clarifying questions to confirm the change was only a reclassification of one role rather than a broader reorganization. A director asked, "Is it you said it's going from a hourly to a salary is all?" and Olsen confirmed that was the case.
Board members approved the motion by voice vote. The chair announced the motion carried.
Context The approval came as part of a special meeting that included routine consent items; the addendum was presented separately and discussed before the board approved consent items minus the pulled transportation contract. The board did not take public comment at this special meeting.
