Superintendent Dr. Zambrino told the South St. Paul School Board on July 28 that the district finalized a strategic vision and is developing public scorecards to hold the district accountable for implementation.
Dr. Zambrino said the district engaged hundreds of staff, students, families and community members and produced the vision phrase: “Engage, educate, and empower.” He described three key pillars—Packer performance (academic excellence), Packer pride (inclusive culture and community connection), and Packer promise (equity and support for every student and adult)—and said the administration will present measurable scorecards to the board and community in August.
Vice Chair Claflin summarized work-session discussion on a brand-refresh process intended to modernize logos, ensure accessibility and correct prior copyright concerns around the district mascot. Claflin said the refresh aims for a consistent public identity across web, print and apparel while preserving the Packer and bull imagery; rollout will follow natural replacement cycles for signs, jerseys and printed materials.
Board members asked implementation questions; Dr. Zambrino said staff will align strategic metrics with board reporting and use the scorecards for transparent accountability. No formal board action was taken on the strategic plan or brand elements at the July 28 meeting, though board members said they expect future updates and rollouts.
