Gadsden County approves multiple budget amendments, moves $440,000 to parks and $150,000 to emergency housing

Gadsden County commissioners approved several budget amendments during their August public meeting, reallocating funds for housing, parks, an opioid settlement program and county insurance and grant matches.
The most significant transfers included $150,000 moved from the county general fund to the local SHIP (State Housing Initiatives Partnership) emergency housing account and a $440,000 transfer from fund balance for completion of park improvements. Commissioners also placed $298,006.44 from an opioid settlement into a restricted account for the county’s opioid response program and approved smaller budget moves — $85,000 to cover a shortfall for sheriff’s insurance and $125,000 to satisfy a local match for a courthouse historic-preservation grant.
