Economic update: Morgan County staff report on Bridgepoint development, lift station and regional road projects

Chelsea, identified in the meeting as the presenter for the economic update, told the Morgan County Commission staff recently met with a neighboring town manager to discuss Bridgepoint, a development that spans municipal boundaries and includes parcels in Parkersville and Morgan County. Chelsea said coordination will continue on planning and zoning for the project.

Chelsea said the county is constructing a lift station off Hugging Hollow and that the redevelopment commission contributed about $350,000 to that infrastructure, which staff said will support the Bridgepoint development. "Were currently constructing the lift station off of Hugging Hollow... the redevelopment commission contributed I think $350,000 for that," Chelsea said.

Staff also reported ongoing conversations related to a potential data center near Monrovia, which several commissioners identified as the larger proposed development in the area, and noted regional roadway projects in Hendricks County including three roundabouts and planned upgrades to West Point Boulevard. Chelsea said state funding may cover part of the roundabout work but not all, and that jurisdictions are discussing how to fund the remainder.

Commissioners and staff described other coordination steps: a county staff member said he and others met with a town attorney regarding an agreement (reported as "Barbersville's attorney" in the transcript) and that internal review is underway. Staff said the effort slowed recently because of competing priorities but is again a priority.

There were no formal votes on the economic items at the meeting. Commissioners asked staff to continue coordination and return with updates at future meetings.
