Morgan County Commission approves minutes, accepts financial report and approves claims including Baker Tilly invoice

The actions were approved by voice vote after motions from Kim Meredith and a second by Jeff Pipkin; commissioners voiced “aye” and the chair announced the motions carried. Linda Pruitt presented the financial report and answered commissioners’ questions about discrepant claim totals.
Pruitt told the commission she had updated the financials the night before and that a Baker Tilly invoice dated Aug. 12 had been added to the claims list. “I added that Baker Tilly because the invoice was dated August 12,” Pruitt said. Commissioners discussed differences between figures shown earlier in the meeting and the final claims total.
Throughout the discussion the group cited multiple totals: at one point a claims figure of $5,978 and another of $4,055 were referenced; Pruitt said the county later totaled $6,001.93, and commissioners later stated the claims total for August, after adding the Baker Tilly invoice, was $6,193.75. Commissioners agreed to standardize the cut-off for submitting claims and asked that claims be cut off on the Wednesday before meetings going forward.
Motions and votes at the meeting were procedural and carried by voice vote. The commission recorded no public comments and there was no legal update.
The commission adjourned and scheduled its next meeting for Aug. 14.
