Planning Commission approves SoCalGas restoration amendment to mitigate Diegan coastal sage scrub

The Carlsbad Planning Commission on Aug. 6 voted 5-0 to adopt a resolution approving an amendment to a previously approved restoration and stabilization plan addressing emergency gas-line repairs near Ponto Drive, allowing implementation of defined mitigation and monitoring requirements.
The amendment updates the restoration plan for emergency work SoCalGas completed in February 2020 and reflects revised vegetation mapping, additional agency review and a Coastal Commission requirement to mitigate permanent impacts to Diegan coastal sage scrub at a 2:1 ratio. Associate Planner Alex Allegre presented the staff recommendation and detailed the acreages and schedule to the commission.
