At its July 10, 2025 MobileGR Commission meeting, staff described an onboard rider survey of the Dash circulator intended to collect short, trip-level feedback from people while they are riding the service. MobileGR reported about 170 respondents so far and said it expects to close the survey in roughly a week before analyzing results and returning to the commission in the fall.
The survey focuses on trip purpose, frequency of use, other mobility modes used (including DART, Lime and the Rapid), perceptions of safety and riders’ improvement priorities such as frequency, wait times and signage. "The goal is to try to keep Dash as much of a relevant and, a service that meets the needs of of the folks using it as much as possible," said Max Dillivan, MobileGR staff, describing the project and the challenge of designing a concise instrument for trips that typically last five to ten minutes.
MobileGR said staff conducted the survey onboard using iPads at varied times and days to capture morning, afternoon, evening and nighttime riders; they also offered QR-coded comment cards so people could complete the survey later on their own devices. The stated target response range was about 150–200 responses.
Commissioners and staff used the discussion to identify additional outreach opportunities. Commissioner Stefan Powaka urged inclusion of neighborhood outreach to increase residential usability, and Commissioner Josh Longer recommended targeted engagement with businesses, hotels and event partners on the Westside and near major venues to learn whether the Dash is meeting visitor and customer needs. Staff said the survey is intentionally limited to current riders and that a previous 2024 mobility survey gathered data from non-riders; MobileGR staff said they plan additional targeted outreach and partner engagement later in the year.
MobileGR staff said they will analyze the collected data and present processed findings to the commission in the fall, and encouraged commissioners to try the QR-coded survey to see the instrument themselves.
