Michigan House introduces five bills, adjourns after finding no quorum

The session included first readings of five House bills. Representative McKinney offered House Bill 4742, which was read for the first time by title and referred to the Committee on Natural Resources and Tourism. Representative Wolford offered House Bills 4743 and 4744; each was read for the first time by title, with 4743 referred to the Committee on Natural Resources and Tourism and 4744 referred to the Committee on Government Operations. Representative Wolford also introduced House Bills 4745 and 4746; both were read for the first time and referred to the Committee on Regulatory Reform and the Committee on Government Operations respectively, as announced by the clerk.
Separately, the clerk announced committee meeting schedules: the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor and Economic Opportunity will meet Wednesday, July 23, at 9 a.m. in Room 307 of the House Office Building and Thursday, July 24, at 9 a.m. in Room 327; the House Oversight Subcommittee on State and Local Public Assistance Programs will meet Thursday, July 24, at 9 a.m. in Room 326; and the House Committee on Agriculture will meet Thursday, July 24, at 10:30 a.m. in Room 308. The clerk also reported that several bills had been reproduced and made available electronically on July 15 and July 17, including House Bills 4726 through 4741 and Senate Bills 480 through 485.
The clerk then said, “Mister speaker, quorum of the house is not present.” Following that announcement the clerk stated the House would stand adjourned until Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.
The session record contains no floor votes or committee actions on the bills introduced; each item was read for the first time by title and referred to the committee named by the clerk.
