Council approves two one‑day closures for Knoll Road resurfacing ahead of school

The Poulsbo City Council approved two one‑day closures on Knoll Road Northeast — one to grind and remove existing asphalt and a second day to repave — as part of the ongoing Knoll Road improvement project.
City staff and the contractor told the council the work will cover the segment from north of Johnson Parkway Northeast to the Bjorn Street intersection and includes improvements to the Poulsbo Elementary School entrance. The planned closure dates are tentatively Thursday, Aug. 21 (grind) and Monday, Aug. 25 (pave), with day closures roughly 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; the road will be reopened for evening traffic.
Public Works said the route will be detoured through the Blue Heron neighborhood; access to Deer Run and Bjorn Creek neighborhoods will be maintained and city staff have informed the homeowners association about the plan. City staff also told council the schedule was set to complete work before schools reopen and that, based on current progress, they do not anticipate schedule delays that would push the work into the school year.
Council approved the two‑day closure request by unanimous vote. Voting recorded: Newell — aye; Roe — aye; Taber — aye; Eckert — aye; McVeigh — aye; Libdahl — aye; Stern — aye.
Public Works staff said they would provide written notification to emergency services and continue resident outreach as the closure dates approach.
