The Town of Indian Trail Council approved a change to the turf‑field reservation policy to allow renters to reserve either the entire turf field or half of it, a change staff said will let the parks department accommodate more simultaneous youth practices and smaller events.
Parks staff said the change responds to user requests and scheduling conflicts: under the prior policy groups had to reserve the whole field even for smaller practices. Staff said resident requests will continue to receive priority and the resident/nonresident reservation windows (residents 6 weeks ahead, nonresidents 4 weeks) will not change. The council approved the new fee schedule; staff said the half‑field hourly rate will be $30 for residents and $45 for nonresidents, while full‑field rates remain unchanged. The half‑field option will be available in the 2026 rental schedule starting January.
Parks staff noted the turf field is subject to regular maintenance and inspections by a turf‑care contractor; the initial condition report was positive and staff said they are developing an asset‑management approach so the town can forecast replacement costs. Council member Todd Barber asked about field life and staff said periodic compression testing and sanitation inspections are performed and they will plan for eventual turf replacement.
The motion to change the rental policy passed unanimously.
