A Tredyffrin-Easttown School District resident raised concerns about building comfort and student safety during the public comment period at the Aug. 25 board meeting, urging the board to prioritize full air conditioning for two middle schools and to add crossing‑guard coverage at a congested intersection.
Cindy Virgold told the board she was grateful for the district’s summer work but said: “I wanna remind you that you have 2 middle schools that do not have total air conditioning. I think it should be a priority.” She suggested the district test systems and place HVAC work on the capital plan.
Virgold also urged the board to add a second crossing guard at the Old Lancaster and Howville intersection, saying one veteran crossing guard “can’t be in 2 places at once” and that the intersection was chaotic that day. She recommended advertising, offering a bonus or other measures to increase crossing‑guard staffing.
President Kentorsick acknowledged Virgold’s comments; the board did not take a formal vote or make a staff assignment on those specific requests during the meeting. Virgold also thanked a district staff member, Marshall Barkman, for addressing a separate contractor concern during the summer.
The board’s public comment procedures limit remarks to residents and taxpayers and restrict questions to the board as a whole. The district’s administration did not announce any immediate operational changes related to Virgold’s requests at the meeting.
