Tuscaloosa City Schools on Aug. 19 held a first reading of the district's proposed 2025'26 salary schedule, which includes a 3% increase for athletic supplements, several position removals and a change adding supervisory authority within the accounting office.
The proposed schedule was presented by Dr. Cameron, TCS staff, who said, "We added, on pages 9 through 11, we added up 3% to our athletic supplements this year." He also told the board that colored highlights in the document denote proposed additions and removals: "the yellow highlights are the proposed additions, with the red highlights, the removals."
The presentation noted that several positions no longer exist in the district and are marked for removal. Dr. Cameron said the salary schedule also includes an administrative change in accounting: a newly defined coordinator of accounting position that will supervise the payroll supervisor.
Board members were given the opportunity to ask questions; none were raised during the first reading. The board chair confirmed the salary schedule will return for a final vote at the board's Sept. 2 regular meeting.
Because this was a first reading, the board took no final action; the document is slated for consideration at the next meeting.
The materials shown to the board used colored highlights and page references to indicate the proposed changes and will be posted with the Sept. 2 agenda when the item returns for a vote.
