Mifflin County School Board approves extracurricular advisors list and stipends for 2025–26

The Mifflin County School District Board of Directors voted to approve the recommended extracurricular and supplemental advisors for the 2025–26 school year, including stipends to be paid twice a year under the district’s collective-bargaining agreement.

Board member Mr. Varner introduced the recommendation and asked for a motion; a second was given though not recorded on the meeting record. During discussion, board member Mrs. Stewart praised the district’s staff for offering a broad array of student activities — including History Club, Key Club, Mini-THON, Ski Club, STEM Club, Technology Assistant, Art Club, class advisors and PBIS leadership — and called the program “roughly $138,000” and “money very well spent.”

After brief discussion the board took a roll-call vote. Board members recorded as voting “yes” during the roll call included Mrs. Dixon, Mr. Steinle, Mr. Siers, Mr. Baker, Mr. Herb, Mr. Harshberger (recorded as “Hertzberger” in the roll call), Mr. Smith, Mrs. Stewart and Mr. Smeltz; the chair announced the matter approved.

The approved motion covers the full roster of extracurricular and supplemental advisors as submitted to the board and confirms stipend payments will be made twice per year — once in December and once in May — as provided by the district’s negotiated agreement. The board did not record a formal amendment to the list on the record and no individual stipend amounts were discussed at the meeting.

The board moved on to other business after the vote and scheduled its Committee of the Whole session afterward.
