Eichelberger said the Capturing Kids’ Hearts Foundation awarded $4,500 and the Piedmont Schools Foundation awarded $5,000. He also said a $10,000 donation from Servius Ministries (Bob Henley) has been pledged toward the training.
District staff and teachers described the prior Capturing Kids’ Hearts session as highly engaging; staff reported teachers volunteered two full days before school to participate and provided uniformly positive feedback. The program covers social-contract development, classroom culture activities and practices teachers can use in daily instruction.
Board members asked about participant counts and cost per person. Staff said the quoted price covers 50 participants and can be expanded to about 60 at roughly $400 per additional person. The immediate training scheduled for November will focus on Piedmont Elementary; staff said the district hopes to scale training one school at a time, pairing Capturing Kids’ Hearts with PLC and RTI work.
The motion passed unanimously.
