Washington County outlines fall calendar, highlights Beaverton Recovery Center opening and staff emergency response

At the roundtable, Katherine Harrington walked commissioners through upcoming meetings including district and association gatherings; she told the board that the Beaverton Recovery Center renovation is expected to finish on schedule and the facility is on track for a mid-November opening. Harrington said the county has four board meeting days in September with additional work sessions and that some commissioners will be out for portions of the fall schedule.
Harrington also flagged an Aug. 26 museum-options discussion and an Oct. 8 change to the Association of Oregon Counties District 8 meeting date. She reminded board members that levy presentations and community meetings will require coordination given some evening schedules and out-of-office commissioner dates.
The chair also acknowledged staff who responded to two urgent incidents on Aug. 13 at county facilities. Harrington said staff at the Assessment and Taxation lobby administered CPR and called 911 after a medical incident, and county risk staff connected a person experiencing homelessness with services on the second floor. “They quickly recognized the individual needs, called 911, and began administering life saving CPR,” Harrington said, praising calm, professional staff response.
