Sunnyvale council appoints Barb Rogers to library board after evening of candidate interviews

Sunnyvale Town Council appointed Barb Rogers to the town library board Monday, voting 6-0 to fill an alternate vacancy.
Council interviewed two applicants earlier in the meeting: Patty Wallace and Barb Rogers. Rachel Ramsey (staff) explained the vacancy followed a regular member’s resignation and that the council had previously elevated an alternate to a regular seat, leaving an alternate opening.
Barb Rogers told the council she has lived in Sunnyvale for just over 20 years, volunteers at the Bush Library Museum at Southern Methodist University and holds a town library card. "I have spent most of my time online using some of the virtual resources. And I currently volunteer at the Bush Library Museum, at SMU," Rogers said during her interview. She told council she is interested in expanding virtual learning offerings for older residents and in publicity for the library.
Patty Wallace, a recent Sunnyvale resident who said she takes her grandchildren to library story time and has served on volunteer boards elsewhere, also interviewed and described her interest in community engagement and library programming.
Councilmember Robert Woodrow moved to appoint Rogers to the alternate library-board position; Mr. Clark seconded the motion. The motion passed 6-0.
Ending: Staff said it will notify both applicants of the appointment outcome and take steps to seat the new board member.
