District finance staff told the school committee the FY25 closeout is underway, auditors are scheduled to begin work in October, and the FY26 budget has been loaded into Munis.
A finance presenter and the finance director described ongoing reconciliation of encumbrances and grant reimbursements, including CRP reimbursements and capital improvement bond funds. The finance director said staffing in the finance office is now fully staffed and the auditors will begin field work in October.
During the superintendent's report, the superintendent said the enrollment number in the committee packet was incorrect; after recalculation the district is "only 6 students under our enrollment at this time last year," correcting an earlier larger figure. The superintendent said the packet will be updated to reflect the correction.
Committee members pressed finance staff about timing for reconciliation. Finance staff described standard reconciliation processes, outstanding invoices and an effort to determine which encumbrances are actual expenses.
The committee discussed hiring: several resignations and later hires were noted, and the content-lead stipends for curriculum work were clarified as stipend positions that do not remove teachers from classroom assignments.
The auditors' schedule and ongoing reconciliations were described as the primary near-term financial tasks; no budget amendments or major new funding actions were approved at this meeting.
