A Lewiston resident raised concerns during the citizen comment period about a residential property at 916 Grell Drive that he said the city recently approved to operate as a drug and alcohol rehabilitation home with an increased resident capacity.
Douglas Kenyon identified himself as a Lewiston resident and said he believes the city "has recently approved a reasonable request for accommodation for an address at 916 Grell Drive." Kenyon said his understanding is the facility intends to have "16 patients in there at a time," and he raised concerns about potential parking impacts, whether the property is properly configured for what he described as a commercial operation in a residential zone, and fire and safety burdens on the neighborhood.
Kenyon told the council he did not know whether the item would be placed on a future agenda and said he wanted to bring the matter to the council's attention.
The council did not take formal action on the comment during the meeting; the mayor asked that commenters provide their names and cities of residence for the record and the comment period closed after other speakers. No staff response or scheduling of follow‑up on the record was made at the time Kenyon spoke.
Because the speaker described his understanding of administrative action using the phrasing "it's my understanding," the council and staff should be regarded as the authoritative sources for confirming whether any administrative approvals or reasonable‑accommodation decisions have been granted and whether further public notification or an agenda item will be scheduled.
No additional public comment on this property was recorded during the meeting.
