Board raises initial and renewal fees for pharmacy licenses, pharmacists and technicians

The Texas State Board of Pharmacy voted Aug. 5 to adopt fee increases for pharmacy licensure, pharmacist licensure and pharmacy technician registration.
Board staff presented the fee amendments and cited line-item changes in the rule text: the pharmacy initial license fee was set at $610 and the renewal fee at $607; pharmacist initial license fee at $399 and renewal at $396; pharmacy technician initial registration fee at $88 and renewal at $85. Staff said the three rules had been proposed earlier and were published in the Texas Register; the three technician-related fee rules had been proposed at the June 17 meeting and published in the July 4 Texas Register.
No public comments were reported on the fee rules. Donna Montemayor moved to adopt the fee amendments; Donnie Lewis seconded. The chair called for the vote and announced the motion carried.
Why it matters: The fee changes alter the cost to applicants and renewing licensees. Agencies periodically adjust fees for administrative and programmatic needs; the board follows the administrative rulemaking process and published the proposals for public comment before final adoption.
Board action: The board adopted agenda items c.1.1.0.1 (pharmacy license fees), c.1.1.0.2 (pharmacist license/renewal fees), and c.1.1.0.3 (pharmacy technician registration fees).
