Dane County committee approves two highway capital fund transfers to cover equipment, facility work

At its Sept. 4 meeting, the Dane County Public Works and Transportation Committee approved two 2025 fund transfers that move existing capital dollars to cover an equipment overrun and to fund restroom construction at county equipment storage buildings.

The committee approved 2025 Fund Transfer No. 17 to cover a $7,100 overrun on converted truck chassis used for barrel trucks. Tricia, a department staff member, told the committee the project exceeded budget by about $7,100 and that the department would move available funds from a crack-fill melter line that had approximately $9,000 remaining.

The committee also approved 2025 Fund Transfer No. 18 to cover higher-than-anticipated construction bids for restroom work at the Albion Equipment Storage Building and the Verona Storage Building. Tricia said the budget will be replenished by zeroing out two capital accounts with remaining funds and taking the remainder from savings remaining in the Madison Fuel site upgrade project completed earlier this year.

Both transfers were moved and seconded (FTR 17: moved by Supervisor Udell, second by Supervisor Blazewicz; FTR 18: moved by Supervisor Blazewicz, second by Supervisor Udell) and were approved by voice vote.

Committee members asked only clarifying questions. Chair Engelberger confirmed the motions had been made and seconded before the voice votes. Tricia confirmed both transfers are being taken from existing capital funds. No public registrants spoke on either transfer.

The committee did not record roll-call vote counts in the minutes; both measures were approved by voice vote. The committee’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Sept. 9 at 4:30 p.m. in Room 351 of the City-County Building.
