Commissioner Gilbert asked whether the item could be removed from the upcoming voting session. "I'd like to pull that off of the voting session. Can I do that, or we have to vote on it?" Gilbert asked, saying he had expected the county to fund the project and expressing frustration about available funds.
The committee action reported at the work session was a committee-level decision; no final county commission vote on the funding request was recorded in the meeting transcript. The finance committee’s denial means the funding request will appear on the full commission’s Aug. 18 voting agenda with the committee recommendation not to fund the project.
