CNS advisory committee elects chair team, approves 2026 meeting dates and appoints member to website subcommittee

The Board of Registered Nursing Clinical Nurse Specialist Advisory Committee on Aug. 27 re-elected Jessica Lycap as chair and Alyssa Brown as vice chair, approved proposed 2026 meeting dates and made several procedural approvals.

After discussion about wording in the draft minutes related to the APRN Consensus Model and competency-based practice, the committee voted to accept the Jan. 16, 2025 minutes with "necessary amendments" to the language on pages 10 and 11. The amended-motion to approve the minutes was moved by Alyssa Brown and seconded by Carrie Grogan; the roll-call vote carried.

The committee approved two meeting dates for 2026April 7 and Oct. 6by motion and roll-call vote. Members were told the timing could change if a pending Department of Consumer Affairs bill affecting remote meeting authority (Bagley-Keene-related provisions) does not pass.

Members also re-elected Jessica Lycap as chair and Alyssa Brown as vice chair. The motion to reappoint the two officers carried on a roll-call vote after nominations and brief statements from candidates.

Finally, the committee voted to add Marilyn Ababio to the public engagement and website subcommittee. The motion was made, the committee took public comment (none present), and the roll-call vote carried.

All four procedural actions were recorded as motions, seconded, and approved by roll call. The committee adjourned after completing its agenda.
