The Plainfield Community School Corp. Board of Trustees on voice votes approved the consent agenda, accepted the monthly financial summary, approved claims 69608 through 69851, and approved personnel recommendations in Schedule A-1, including a recent addendum.
Board staff presented a notice and hearing on a proposed additional appropriation of $250,000 to the education fund to cover materials for the district—s recently adopted English language arts (ELA) program. The finance presenter told the board the appropriation hearing was published on July 17 and that the district—s cash balances were sufficient to cover materials over the next five years. "Cash balances are sufficient for us to handle this," the presenter said. The appropriation resolution was included on the consent agenda and approved.
The board—s financial summary for the month ended July 31 noted a transfer of $238,036 from the education fund to the operations fund and a cash balance of $34,440,260. Interest income for the month totaled $94,362. The presenter drew attention to several vendor payments in the docket: $31,384 to CERDIN for cybersecurity software renewal and $40,107 to Level Data for student provisioning software. Bus maintenance items and parts were noted, including manifold and engine work totaling roughly $40,921 across two entries; the presenter also cited approximately $26,000 for annual fire inspections and other facility and scoreboard work.
The board recorded a motion and second before approving the consent agenda and claims; the meeting transcript documents voice votes of "Aye" with no named roll-call votes. Personnel recommendations were presented on four pages with an addendum and approved without named dissent.
Separately, during the meeting the board opened a public bargaining hearing required before bargaining season. Melissa Maxwell, identified in the meeting as a representative of the PBA, attended but no public comments or questions were recorded on bargaining. The board also held the annual internet-safety hearing and later adopted the internet-safety plan (see separate coverage).
The meeting concluded after patrons' comments on nonagenda items produced no speakers and the board adjourned.
