Council members describe local initiatives: mental-health co-response, job growth and bridge project

A council member from District 4 said the county last month launched a mental-health co-response program that pairs mental-health professionals with first responders in Parma and Parma Heights. The member described the program as intended to help people in crisis and reduce burdens on police departments.
Another council member representing District 6 said Mayfield Village has a new employer, Process Technology, that relocated from Wisconsin. The member said the project was supported by Team NEO with about a $200,000 grant and added several hundred total jobs while creating 66 new positions tied to upskilling and training dollars.
The District 6 member also gave an update on a bridge replacement in downtown Chagrin Falls, describing a roughly $8.1 million project managed by Great Lakes Construction that is ahead of schedule and expected to open to pedestrian and vehicle traffic late this fall.
A council member for District 10 described community concerns about the land bank—s role when it operates across multiple cities and said she plans to pursue a countywide mental-health summit. Several members said the informal meeting was useful for sharing initiatives and identifying opportunities for collaboration.
