Holly Peyton, area director for Purdue Extension, told the board the new contract for 2026 totals $131,335 and covers community development, health and human sciences, agricultural and natural resources, and 4‑H youth development. Peyton said the service‑based model is being piloted in several counties for contract year 2026 and will be rolled out statewide in 2027.
Peyton told the commissioners that Appendix 1 of the memorandum of understanding is grounded in Indiana code that requires each county to have extension‑based services. She said the service agreement will enable Purdue Extension to align its budget and to report services in a single contractual line rather than listing personnel.
Motion and vote: A motion to approve the contractual services agreement for contract year 2026 passed unanimously, 3‑0.
Next steps: The signed contract copy will be exchanged and filed with the county. Peyton said Extension will solicit feedback from commissioners and the community on local priorities and offered an invitation for commissioners to a September 29 feedback meeting.
