Cookeville City Council on Aug. 21 adopted a resolution authorizing the city manager to sign and accept a Tennessee Department of Transportation proposal for the Buffalo Valley Bridge over Cane Creek.
Mister Worts presented the TDOT proposal and plans, saying the project’s location corresponds to the existing bridge. He told council that under TDOT’s proposal the city would be responsible for relocating utilities, dedicating any necessary right of way and maintaining facilities constructed as part of the project. He said city departments including public works, energy and water-quality reviewers had examined the plans and that the leisure services department had reviewed the section involving land to be dedicated from Cane Creek Park.
Vice Mayor Eldridge moved to approve Resolution R25-08-12; Councilman Bocce seconded. The council voted 5-0 to authorize the city manager to sign the TDOT proposal.
The resolution recorded in the agenda packet authorizes the city manager to sign and accept TDOT’s proposal; the transcript does not record specific construction timelines, funding splits or conditions beyond the city responsibilities described by staff.
