Of the 165 in the queue as of 10 a.m. that morning, staff described the breakdown: 91 needed proofs from parents (for example, birth certificates and other documentation); 43 needed records or registration information from another school district; 29 were fully in progress; and 2 did not belong to Aurora East USD 131.
Staff said the queue had been approximately 900 in a prior update and the district has added staff to the welcome center and put parent liaisons on-site on a rotating AM/PM schedule to help clear the queue. When documents are needed from parents, communication goes directly to parents; when records are needed from other districts, communication goes to those districts; building staff also assist for school-level records requests.
A committee member asked what steps the district is taking to ensure students are enrolled by day one; staff detailed the additional staffing and outreach measures and said they are approaching the queue from multiple angles to get students "in the seats on the first day." No vote or formal action was taken at the meeting.
