The Holyoke City Community Preservation Committee voted 6-0 to offer the part‑time administrator position to Rebecca Jones and authorized Chair Jay to negotiate an hourly salary within the committee’s established $25–$30 range.
The vote followed the committee’s discussion of Naomi’s announced departure as administrator. Chair Jay said Naomi gave notice but would remain on to help onboard a replacement. Jay moved to offer the position to Rebecca Jones and to authorize the chair to negotiate pay with the city personnel office; the motion was seconded and passed by roll call (Chris: yes; Mary: yes; Michael: yes; Lauren: yes; Pauline: yes; Jay: yes).
The committee said Rebecca Jones has prior experience with Munis, the city’s municipal software, which members described as a significant advantage. Helene urged the committee to consider offering pay at the higher end of the range, citing the position’s responsibilities and prior turnover. Jay said he would coordinate with Kelly Curran, the city’s personnel director, to finalize an appropriate rate and begin onboarding.
Committee members described the job as requiring a mix of financial monitoring, procurement familiarity, contract and press‑release drafting, and general administrative duties. Jay said Naomi and Rebecca will coordinate a transition with a goal of completing the initial onboarding by the committee’s next meeting, scheduled for Sept. 10; Jay said that timeline could be extended if needed.
The motion to hire passed 6-0. The committee also recorded its earlier routine votes at the start of the meeting: acceptance of the July meeting minutes (motion, second; roll call 6-0).
