The session was presented as an exercise: staff gave participants printed maps and asked them to pick five colors to represent residential, public recreation, mixed commercial, light industrial and general commercial. Donna said the maps and related plans — including a central business overlay, a critical natural areas map, water district and school district service-area maps — “are components of the comprehensive plan” and are generally kept in the plan’s appendix. “The future land use map is driven from the plans, goals, and policies,” she said.
