The Veterans of Foreign Wars presented Lifesaving Awards to two Del City police officers during the Aug. 18 Del City City Council meeting.
A VFW representative told the council the awards were in "grateful recognition and sincere appreciation of your prompt life saving action while protecting others in the line of duty." The presentation named Officer Matthew Lisonbee and Officer Aaron Odell and included a certificate signed by the national commander-in-chief of the VFW.
Mayor Mary Eason and council members joined the presentation at the council dais to recognize the officers. The VFW representative noted the awards reflect "timely action resulting (in) saving life" and praised the officers'service to the community.
No council action was required on the presentation; it was ceremonial recognition recorded in the meeting minutes.
