Bristol Warren honors state champion athletes, names coach of the year and introduces three new administrators

The Bristol Warren Regional School Committee on Aug. 13 recognized student athletes and teams who won state championships and acknowledged a coach named coach of the year. The committee also introduced three recently hired district administrators.
Committee members called student athletes to the front to celebrate individual and team achievements, including Thea Jackson and members of the boys volleyball Division III state champion team. Players named during the recognition included Jacob Beatrice, Rasheed Braddock, Nathan Coloro, Dylan D'Alivera, Arian Ferris, Nathaniel Fisher, Bradley Harrington, Matthew Moran, Gianfranco Cimarero Blanca, Dylan White, Jackson Gould and others. The meeting also noted Coach Padula and named Coach Lani as coach of the year; the coach was unable to attend because of another volleyball commitment.
Following the recognitions Superintendent Riley and committee members introduced three new administrators. Derek Swenson was introduced as chief operating officer; in brief remarks he said he has been in education 30 years and described experience that included oversight of an elementary school construction project and roles in operations, human resources and facilities management. Michael Hubert was introduced as deputy finance director; he said he had been controller for the East Providence School District for eight years and previously worked in private-sector finance. Amy Arsenault was introduced as HR generalist and said she recently completed her first week with the district and joins the team from Tiverton Schools and private-sector operations roles.
Committee members said they appreciated the staff and student accomplishments. The chair announced a groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for 10:00 a.m. the following day outside the high school auditorium and asked the newest employees for a brief introduction.
The recognitions and introductions were ceremonial; no formal committee votes were required for these items.
