The resolution, approved during the committee’s meeting, names Christopher Hanna to a term that “will be a 3 year term with it expiring in July 2028,” Hanna said when he addressed the committee. Hanna identified himself as the county’s director of emergency management.
Committee members asked why the emergency management director needed a formal appointment to the LEPC. Hanna said historically emergency management directors have been appointed and that appointments to the LEPC are made by the county executive. He told the committee he would attend meetings but “I would not be able to vote.” He added that he is “appointed the caretaker of information for the LEPC,” and that records requests or public information inquiries about the LEPC would go through his office.
A roll call during the meeting recorded members voting in favor, and the chair announced the motion passed unanimously.
