The Baldwin County Commission recognized five employees as "employees of the quarter" at its regular meeting, with department leaders presenting awards and describing each recipient's contributions.
Deidra (personnel) introduced the awards, noting the quarter included one employee who had been unable to attend a previous ceremony and four employees selected for the current quarter. The county's IT applications and database team recognized John Harvill for stepping into a database-administration role and for sharing knowledge with coworkers. Grace, Harvill's supervisor, said, "If John's on it, it's taken care of."
Sarah Henderson, chief clerk for Probate Judge Harry Golive, nominated Joey Vickrey from the probate office, praising Vickrey's patience, readiness to train new staff and consistent support during Henderson's onboarding.
The Highway Department recognized Jessica Mayo, a transportation planner who coordinates Safe Routes to School activities and designed logos used by the Eastern Shore Metropolitan Planning Organization, and Logan Davis and Brian Conway from the Silver Hill highway crews for heavy-equipment operation, drainage work and after-hours response.
Commissioners and the county administrator applauded the awardees and emphasized the importance of public employees in serving residents. "You are the backbone of the county," one commissioner said, thanking staff for their work.
The presentations included short remarks from supervisors and awardees; no formal action was required to recognize the employees, and the recognitions were entered into the meeting record.
