State lawmaker presents resolution honoring Cherokee County Fire Chief Eddie Robinson

Representative Byrd presented House Resolution 374 on Tuesday commending Cherokee County Fire Chief Eddie Robinson as the 2024 Georgia Fire Chief of the Year.
The resolution, signed by members of the county delegation and formally recorded as Resolution 374, praises Robinson’s leadership for “advancing Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services, fostering improvements in operational efficiency, training, and community safety,” and notes his role in Patriot Day remembrance events. Representative Byrd told the commissioners the resolution was prepared in February and framed for the presentation this month.
Commissioners joined Byrd in recognizing Robinson and in remarks chronicled during the meeting praised the years-long transition to a fully paid, countywide fire department that began after voters approved a fire district tax in the late 1990s. The chair said the county’s move to a fully paid department was “a build out that took 25 years to complete” and called the department “one of the best in the world.”
Robinson said the recognition is for the members of Cherokee County Fire Department, telling the commission, “the credit goes to the men and women of Cherokee County Fire Department. I simply open doors and these guys run through them.” He also thanked commissioners for their support.
The presentation was ceremonial. No formal county action or vote on the resolution was recorded during the work session; Representative Byrd delivered the state House copy to Chief Robinson at the dais.
