Tangipahoa Parish Fire Protection District No. 2 voted July 28 to approve several surplus and disposition actions, including disposal of obsolete rescue equipment, a correction to a previously donated vehicle, and authorization to advertise the sale of a 2019 Ford F-550.
The board approved minutes from its June 23 meeting after a motion by Mister Havas and a second by Mister Senagra. The board then approved a motion to surplus and dispose of listed assets — including aging rescue “jaws” for which replacement parts are no longer available — and to donate or transfer certain vehicles as indicated on the agenda.
Board members also moved to correct an earlier donation of a 2012 Ford Expedition to the City of Hammond. Meeting discussion indicated the district had donated the wrong vehicle (color and unit number were cited) and members voted to correct the record so the intended unit is the one recorded for donation. The board voted to rescind the prior surplus declaration from the Feb. 24 meeting and to make the corrective surplus declaration during the July 28 session.
Separately, the board approved declaring a 2019 Ford F-550 (listed under “Kentwood”) surplus and authorized advertising it for sale.
The district’s finance report — described by staff as “in line with the budget” for the first six months of the year — was also approved by the board.
Votes at a glance - Approval of June 23 minutes: motion by Mister Havas; second by Mister Senagra; outcome: approved. - Surplus and disposal of listed rescue equipment (jaws): motion moved and seconded; outcome: approved. - Correction of prior donation (2012 Ford Expedition) and rescinding action from Feb. 24: motion moved and seconded; outcome: approved. - Approve surplus and advertise sale of 2019 Ford F-550 (Kentwood): motion moved and seconded; outcome: approved. - Monthly financial report and register: motion moved and seconded; outcome: approved.
Board members voiced brief discussion to clarify which unit had been donated in February and sought a formal motion to rescind that earlier action so the record would reflect the intended unit. Multiple roll-call votes followed the motions; speakers on the record cast affirmative votes to carry each item.
The board did not specify sale terms or minimum prices for the F-550 during the meeting; staff said advertised sale will be handled via the district’s standard surplus process (govdeals or similar platform).
