School Building Committee approves two new members, names interim CFO

The Central Falls School Building Committee voted to add two new members and confirmed an interim chief financial officer during its meeting, the committee chair said.

The committee approved the appointments by voice vote after a motion to add the proposed members was made and seconded. The committee also welcomed Hannah Rivers as interim chief financial officer; Rivers said she had previously managed grants, payroll and system enhancements and that she planned to "create a more collaborative financial perspective" while serving as interim.

The committee chair opened the meeting by explaining that Principal Robert McCarthy had resigned at the end of the school year and that the committee was proposing a replacement member, identified in the meeting as Purnima De Morais. The chair also said that Carrie Simmons’s last day in the district would be the following day and that Hannah Rivers would step in as interim CFO and would replace Simmons on the committee. Committee members moved and seconded the appointment motion and voted in favor.

Committee members who participated in the motions included Anne (committee member) and Matt (committee member), who seconded the initial motion. The meeting transcript records the voice vote as "Aye" with no opposition.

The committee chair invited the new appointees to ask questions and described the group as "a very friendly group." No formal discussion or dissent about the appointments was recorded in the meeting minutes.

The committee adjourned after completing the agenda items.
