Borough Council approved a package of ordinance changes, a resolution to sell a borough-owned lot, and a series of equipment and grant authorizations during a committee work session and subsequent meeting.
The council voted to advertise and approve amendments to chapter 24 of the borough code that add background-check requirements for fire department members, and to change downtown parking-meter rates in chapter 233 to $0.50 per hour for two-hour spaces once new meters are installed.
Council also adopted Resolution 2025-7 authorizing the sale of the Valley Street/East Third Street property to the highest bidder and empowered borough officers to execute closing documents. Council members approved purchases and procurement items including a replacement police vehicle (a 2025 Ford Escape), outfitting for that vehicle, stormwater/collection repairs by slip-lining a broken sewer line, four roll-off dumpsters to replace unserviceable units, and applications for two state grant programs: a multimodal grant and a Main Street Matters grant.
Several items were passed under a consent agenda, and motions were moved, seconded and carried by voice vote with no detailed roll-call tallies recorded in the transcript.
Council President Matt Moore presided over the votes and Borough Secretary Tyler Fink was named in closing-authority language for the real-estate transaction.
The actions taken authorize staff to proceed with closing, procurement and grant submissions; specific contract awards and invoice approvals will appear in future agenda packets or staff reports.
