Trustee Norwood announced a quarterly housing committee meeting for Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Dolton Village Hall and urged local residents to attend for updates on a potential housing program.

Norwood, speaking at a village meeting, said the village will hold an annual tax-exemption and appeal seminar on Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Royal Estates. "I've been receiving a lot of calls regarding our potential housing program," Norwood said, and added the Oct. 28 meeting should answer many questions.

In addition to the housing announcements, Norwood thanked local businesses for supporting youth employment and village events. She singled out the owner of Harold's Chicken in Dolton for repeatedly hiring young people from the village for a youth work program. She also thanked Pablo's Cafe, 51 20 Entertainment and Falcon Convenience for donating to recent events.

Norwood said the youth budget has not been spent in recent events because sponsorships covered costs. "So this year, I'm working on a 12 days of Christmas," she said, describing plans for daily raffles hosted at Thornridge High School and the possibility of launching the series with a concert.
