Flagstaff Parks staff propose needs-based athletic field allocation for 2026

Haley Reynolds, investment marketing manager for Flagstaff Parks & Recreation, told the commission the department will change how it allocates youth athletic fields beginning in 2026. The new approach would assign space based on submitted registration numbers and by season, rather than by historic allocations that give large blocks of time to a few long-standing user groups.
Reynolds said staff held a mandatory, in-person meeting with existing user groups this summer to discuss the change and grouped participants by sport to identify needs. “Moving forward, that allocation will be based off of true needs. So your number — we need your registration numbers in advance to actually properly allocate the field,” Reynolds said.
